About Resonant's XBAR® filter technology Resonant has created a novel bulk acoustic wave (BAW) filter technology XBAR® to meet the challenging and complex RF front-end requirements of next-generation 5G, Wi-Fi and UWB networks. The 4G BAW filter structure is traditionally used for frequencies up to 3 GHz and is suitable for filtering higher frequency bands, which brings significant performance and capability challenges. Resonant used WaveX™ to evaluate various resonators and filter building blocks for broadband, high-frequency, and high-power filter designs. XBAR® is the result of these extensive studies-the best next-generation filtration technology.

XBAR® is the first and only RF filter solution that locally demonstrates the performance required to fully realize the potential of next-generation wireless technologies, including 5G and Wi-Fi 6/6E. In addition, future wireless networks will continue to develop towards wider bandwidths, higher frequencies, and higher complexity, which will further increase the demand for XBAR® filters. It is different from traditional BAW filters that require a complicated multi-step manufacturing process. The manufacture of XBAR® filters is much simpler, so SAW foundries can be used.

In addition to intellectual property rights related to the subsequent development of know-how and expertise, Resonant continues to protect XBAR® technology through basic patents and trade secrets related to disruptive technologies.

About Resonant's WaveX™ design technology Resonant creates designs for difficult RF frequency bands and modules to meet the challenging and complex 5G, Wi-Fi and UWB RF front-end requirements. Using WaveX™, Resonant's design has the potential to cut development time in half, and manufacturing costs are lower than traditional methods. WaveX™ is a set of proprietary algorithms, software design tools and network synthesis technology, enabling Resonant to explore more possible design solutions.

Resonant provides its customers with rapid design simulations, which are manufactured in their dedicated fabs or by one of Resonant's foundry partners. These improved solutions still use surface acoustic wave (SAW) or temperature-compensated surface acoustic wave (TC-SAW) technology, and have the performance of more costly manufacturing methods such as bulk acoustic wave (BAW).

Resonant's WaveX™ has excellent predictability and can achieve the required product performance in approximately half of the fab turns. In addition, Resonant's simulation simulates basic material and structural properties, which makes integration with foundry and fab customers more intuitive because they use the "fab language" of basic material properties and dimensions.
