Melco Audio launched its first SSD-based mid-range digital music library N50-S38. N50-S38 is handmade in Japan and offers the best Melco solid-state affordability ever, the latest digital technology, and Melco's legendary ease of use.
The new N50-S38 benefits from a 1.7 mm thick heavy-duty full-width chassis, IEC power inlet with noise filter and classic Melco styling. Improvements include an enhanced motherboard with a specially selected 3.84 TB SSD drive, connection to a new rigid layered SSD bracket, and a new dynamic PSU with a 25% increase in output. Also includes redesigned isolation feet.
Like all Melco digital music libraries, the N50-S38 is very easy to use. Crucially, the rear panel includes four specific USB ports: USB 3.0; expansion and backup, plus a dedicated USB DAC output, which can be connected to a USB DAC, USB DAC-equipped amplifier or powered speakers at any time.
These ports make USB devices easy to connect and operate without any configuration, including: import or play music from storage devices, HDD/SSD drives and CD drives (CD'rippers'); use Melco's E100 (or other) storage drives for Capacity expansion; and easy backup to HDD/SSD drive.
Consistent with the audiophile certificate of N50-S38, the rear panel also includes Melco Crown’s dedicated dual Ethernet ports. Like its EX series products, N50-S38 supports Roon Ready, is compatible with DSD, provides application control via DLNA/UPnP (in USB DAC mode), and supports TIDAL, Qobuz and vTuner streaming media. Qobuz Downloader and HighResAudio.com also support direct, error-free high-resolution downloads without the need for a computer.
